Power Flushing Services

Power-flushing is a method of cleaning a central heating system utilising a purpose made high pressure pumping unit & filters in conjunction with cleansing chemicals to remove system corrosion deposits in radiators, valves & pipework.

Benefits of Power Flushing

Power-flushing removes the corrosion deposits are broken down by the cleaning chemicals & carried in suspension using the power-flushing unit & can remove up to 95% of deposits to restore system efficiency & is important to be carried out when replacing a central heating boiler to help protect the new boiler from damaging deposits & to restore system efficiency to the pipework & radiators.

NB. It is also a requirement under BS 7593 for the preparation, commissioning & maintenance, which requires the use of corrosion inhibitors & chemical cleaning during the installation & use of domestic heating system. Many older heating systems will suffer from corrosion issues, which have built up over time, gradually getting worse as time goes on.

The symptoms of a system suffering corrosion problems can be manyfold & can include radiator cold spots, system slow to heat up, discoloured system water, pumping over into the expansion cistern, gassing requiring frequent venting of the radiators, pinholes in radiators or pipework, noisy boiler, gurgling in the pipework & pump or system component failure.

All these symptoms can point to an unhappy system & it is trying to tell you there is a problem. Ignoring it will not make it go away. The ideal time to address these issues is when a new boiler is installed & most systems will benefit from being power flushed.

Power Flushing Service

Chemically treating the system with powerful cleansing agents & using a power flushing machine will help to remove the harmful deposits & restore system efficiency.

The Power Flushing Process

Power flushing is a highly effective cleansing operation, which works by pumping water at high velocity through the heating system. This loosens & mobilises the harmful corrosion deposits & suspends them in the rapidly moving water.

This process is made more efficient by using specialist cleaning chemicals & we use the Kamco 90 power flushing machine in conjunction with a powerful magnetic filter, resulting in a highly efficient means of removing up to 95 % of system deposits.

Once the unwanted debris is discharged from the system it can be purged & then refilled with fresh clean water.
We use the Kamco 90 Clearflow power flushing machine in conjunction with the Kamco Power Mag filter, which produces impressive results. AT the end of the flushing testing of the system water is carried out to check it’s PH level, turbidity is carried out.

NB; Please do not confuse draining the system using a garden hose, sometimes called a gravity flush with a power flush, the two things are completely different.

Whilst draining a system will remove the dirty & contaminated water, it will not remove the sediment & heavier deposits in the radiators & system pipework. Only Power Flushing can achieve this in an efficient manner.
